Chapter Philanthropy and Service
Philanthropy and service play a major role in the life of a ZTA. It is one of the most important... and fun aspects of sorority life. Since its adoption as the Fraternity's national philanthropy in 1992, the focus of Breast Cancer research, education, screening, and treatment has brought enthusiastic support from alumni and collegians, whose mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and friends have been touched by the disease.
Kappa Upsilon hosts two large philanthropy events each year. In the fall, we host Thriller 5K during October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Sisters dress up as zombies and chase the runners, putting a fun spin on a 5K! During the spring, we host Cornhole For A Cause at the beginning of March. This is a competitive cornhole tournament, where hundreds of participants go head-to-head with hopes of winning and taking home the big prize! Kappa Upsilon is proud to unite community members, students, families, and friends to participate in these exciting philanthropy events. Our mission to raise awareness, will not stop until 1 in 8 women impacted by breast cancer becomes none in 8.

“Convention was a whirlwind of a week. It’s pretty much a huge celebration of all the chapters across the United States. It was such an honor to represent Kappa Upsilon as President I have the opportunity to accept all the awards we received. I could not have been more proud to represent our chapter," President Kate Holland said. We would not be where we are without each and every sister in this chapter.
“ZTA convention is such a special experience. I wish every ZTA could experience it at least once. It always makes me appreciate the extraordinary vision of our nine young founders. I can only imagine what they would think if they could see what they have created and the impact they have made on so many women!!”, says Melissa Hankinson.
